[okl4-developer] Networking performance

Has anyone done performance studies on networking data plane traffic ?
I plan to to develop virtualized network appliance type applications 
using L4 and was wondering  what data speeds could be expected for say 
std 1k sized raw IP packets without
any processing (networking card to minimal device driver to user buffer 
via a tuned IP
stack ).
