Both mechanisms are mostly the same across the two versions (I'm  
assuming you're comparing 1.2 and 1.5.2).  In 1.5.2, the trace buffer  
works the same way as 1.2, memsections are still there, and you still  
use clist_add(cap) to setup the shared memory region.

That being said, I highly encourage you to upgrade to the 1.5.2  
release :)  Most of your existing code should continue to work.
