The event server allows threads to be notified when a particular event  
occurs.  The notification is via async IPC.  Currently, the only pre- 
defined event is what we call a "Wombat switch", which is applicable  
only when more than one instance of OK Linux is running.

The framework can be extended to implement message broadcast and  
multicast... :)
